The day that we planted the apple tree
I remember it all so well
We thought of the future and how it might be
But only time would tell
In a couple of years or maybe three
Some fruit would start to show
There’d be blossom and bees round our apple tree
As we would watch it grow
I dream of home
Where the apple tree still stands
And the child we see playing now has grown
From innocent boy to a man
The day that we planted the apple tree
These thoughts came to my mind
In the garden of life we a born from seed
We grow, bear fruit and die
We grow, bear fruit and die
I dream one day
When the kids have moved away
They’ll be planting their own new apple trees
And watching their children play
The day that we planted the apple tree
I remember it all so well
We thought of the future and how it might be
But only time would tell
And only time will
